Meet Dr Stuart Lawrence

South Benfleet Chiropractor Dr. Stuart Lawrence Hello, I’m Stuart Lawrence. I have been around multiple types of animals since a child and realised from many years treating humans, that small problems, when not treated, can become more serious, requiring invasive and often expensive  medical or veterinary treatment. I qualified from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 1999 and have worked with many 1000’s of humans over the years and still do.

After some soul searching and a lot of training I decided to break my week up, only seeing humans 3 days a week, to spend more time working with animals to help them lead their best lives just as I have been doing with humans for over 25 years! I am registered with RAMP and the Prestigious British Veterinary Chiropractic Association.

I have spent much of my life outside enjoying my hobbies and can occasionally be found on the edge of a river bank off the River Chelmer with a mug of coffee and a good book whilst watching my float bob around in the water.  I recently bought a slight addition to my van (a roof tent) and am finishing off the mechanical renovation of my 1946 Norton 18 motorcycle, so will be starting to tour round Britain and Europe from the summer of 2025 and onwards… The tools will be packed! I have kept and worked dogs (not particularly well if you ask my good friends) for several years, in particular German Pointers and I passionately love being out with my old boy Kaiser.

Becoming a Veterinary Chiropractor

It was whilst talking to a Chiropractic friend in 2015 about some of the issues of arthritis and a general slowing down of Eva, my old liver and white pointer, that I started to think about training as a Veterinary Chiropractor. I chose Options for Animals UK in Newcastle as it was the first RAMP accredited and recognised educational provider. More importantly for me, I chose them as they were also the only course provider that taught the high level of training that would have been expected by my human clients and that is exclusively limited to students with preexisting degree level qualifications in either Chiropractic or Veterinary medicine. I have also passed the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association exam, giving me membership of the prestigious British Veterinary Chiropractic Association, the gold standard in Veterinary Chiropractic in Britain. You can be certain that all members of the BVCA have a preexisting degree in either Chiropractic or Veterinary medicine alongside post graduate training in animal chiropractic and accreditation at international level. I was made a board member of the BVCA a few years ago and have liaised with and had conversations with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons over tidying up the professions in animal musculoskeletal care, regarding regulation and governance, something which I believe very strongly in! As the only RAMP and Animal Chiropractic Gold standard BVCA registered Veterinary Chiropractor in Essex I have made it my goal to help your beloved furry family member back to a better state of health and wellness and lead a more comfortable and happy life helping to reduce the need to have to rely on pain relieving arthritis or other such medications.

Registered with RAMP

RAMP, the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners, is a national register of practitioners designed to help veterinary surgeons and animal owners choose professionals providing chiropractic, osteopathic and physiotherapy techniques to animals. All professionals registered with RAMP are obliged to demonstrate high standards of proficiency and professionalism, equivalent to the demands of the statutory regulatory bodies governing Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy in the human domain. This means that you can be confident that your animal should receive the same level of care as you would yourself. RAMP makes no distinctions between different forms of training but only of the standards of care given in practice. The Animal Chiropractic course (Options for Animals) I completed is currently the only RAMP accredited course and I am the only RAMP and BVCA registered Veterinary Chiropractor in Essex. I am also registered with the Association of Osteomyologists, which takes into account the best of osteopathy, physiotherapy, chiropractic services, and acupuncture, and is the body I am registered with to treat you the owners.
